ANNA 2

Sounds funny, doesn't it? =)

I just know a few of things about Anna 2. So who did build her or where did she get that name - two things i don't know.

Some time ago i were looking for a RC model for carrying my selfmade RC system for testing. It had to be safe (An airplane is nearly dead when has fallen down =9) and stable, big enough and rough so that the assembly would be fast and easy. A good friend told me about Anna 2, an old-styled fish boat which he had bought cheap years ago. Her condition was terrible (in the eyes of a model fan ;) but she was (and still is!) waterproof - but the Steven pipe don't was.

Some time more elapsed as i was inspecting my cellar. In one eye Anna, in the other 2 modules. A 433 Mhz serial transmitter and a reciever module for transmitting telemetric data. The idea now was to construct a remote controlled fish boat using all that stuff i still already had.

Mit POTS ist in diesem Fall abweichend von der offiziellen Bedeutung sowohl das analoge, als auch das herkömmliche digitale Telefonsystem (ISDN) gemeint.

Einleitung

IAXmodem by Lee Howard is a software modem written in C that uses an IAX channel (commonly provided by an Asterisk PBX system) instead of a traditional phone line and uses a DSP library instead of DSP hardware chipsets.

Auch IAXmodem verwendet Spandsp.

Mail::Audit

... is a Library for creating easy mail filters. We use it because - like Simon Cozens states it - procmail is nasty.

Please read the article Mail Filtering with Mail::Audit by Simon Cozens to get an idea what you can do with it.

On quepasa, Mail::Audit is wrapped through a script called "dispatchmail" using per-user rules from $HOME/.dispatchmailrc. This way, you can easily customize your personal mail filtering and sorting.

To actually activate this thing for you, please add this line to your .forward file:

NFOC - Netfrag conferencing

NFOC consists of two different applications at the moment (heavy development state! ;). The one is the video capture/resize/reformat/compress/UDP-broadcast-application and the other one is the straightforward reciever and renderer for the stream caused by the sender.

Features/Sender:

• Accepts RGB15/16/24/32, YV12/YUV12 and I420 capture formats,
• Downscaling to any size (smaller than the original) and aspect, dithering to 8 bit RGB/YUV or 8, 4, 2 or 1 (hehe) bit grey scaled (needs milliseconds at my P3-500),
• Digital zoom (zoom any area in the original frame in realtime),
• Compressions: RLE (Run-length-encoding) and LZ (Lempel/Ziv) selectable,
• UDP send: implements NFOC protocol, port definable.

Features/Sender:

• Accepts and shows all the formats generated by the NFOC sender,
• Stufftures like: Keeping image aspect, stay on top...,
• Borderless and fast fullscreen mode w/o switching to any accelerator mode,
• Decompressions: RLE (Run-length-encoding) and LZ (Lempel/Ziv) as selected at the sender application,
• UDP recieve: implements NFOC protocol, port definable.

Das Projekt läßt sich in folgende Entwicklungsphasen aufteilen:

1. Wissenschaftliche Recherche: Analyse und mathematische Formulierung des Problems, Entwicklung der Ansätze zur Lösung des Problems, Vorverarbeitung der Ansätze, Optimierung der Lösungsverfahren bezüglich des Speicher- und Zeitverbrauchs;

2. Implementierung von Teillösungen in der Sprache C/C++: Aufteilen des Gesamtproblems in Teilprobleme, Verteilung der Teilaufgaben auf die Mitglieder der Arbeitsgruppe, Modellierung komplexer Vorgänge als Struktogramme;

3. Erstellen einer komfortablen graphischen Benutzeroberfläche mit der C++-Library Qt: Analysieren des Datenflusses, Erstellen von Dateneingabemasken und Integration deren in die Gesamtoberfläche, Visualisieren der Ergebnisse durch graphische Darstellungen im 2D- und ggf. 3D-Räumen, ggf. Erstellen einer Animation;

4. Dokumentation: Erstellen eines Benutzerhandbuches, Erstellen einer Programmers-Reference-Manuals, Klarlegung interner Vorgänge des Systems durch diverse Diagramme, Klarlegung mathematischer Vorgänge durch die wissenschaftliche Recherche zum Thema der Projektaufgabe.

Tools

• Grepmail
  Search for emails in a normal or compressed mailbox using a regular expression or date constraint.

• archivemail
  is a tool written in Python for archiving and compressing old email in mailboxes. It can move messages older than the specified number of days to a separate mbox format mailbox that is compressed with gzip, or optionally just delete old email.

• remoteactions
  is a set of Perl scripts which you can use to run commands on remote servers. A connection is made over an ssh tunnel, authentication is performed, the specified command is executed and the output is sent back through the tunnel.
  Unique status codes can be prefixed to each stage of operation, allowing you to collect as much or as little diagnostic information as you need. Alternatively they can be suppressed entirely (for example if the remote command outputs binary data).

Daemons

• dnsmasq
  Dnsmasq is lightweight, easy to configure DNS forwarder and DHCP server. It is designed to provide DNS and, optionally, DHCP, to a small network.
  It can serve the names of local machines which are not in the global DNS. The DHCP server integrates with the DNS server and allows machines with DHCP-allocated addresses to appear in the DNS with names configured either in each host or in a central configuration file. Dnsmasq supports static and dynamic DHCP leases and BOOTP for network booting of diskless machines.

• mod_curb - A cumulative bandwidth limiting module for Apache
  This module was written to solve the problem of limiting the bandwidth usage of a hosted website.
  Several small hosting companies will happily give you a co-located box with a set data transfer limit, such as '2Gb of traffic per month'. They will charge you extortionantly if you go over this limit...
  I've looked around and I can't find a simple software solution to limit the data that Apache will serve, so I wrote one.

• Easy Automated Snapshot-Style Backups with Linux and Rsync
  This document describes a method for generating automatic rotating "snapshot"-style backups on a Unix-based system, with specific examples drawn from the author's GNU/Linux experience.
  Snapshot backups are a feature of some high-end industrial file servers; they create the illusion of multiple, full backups per day without the space or processing overhead. All of the snapshots are read-only, and are accessible directly by users as special system directories. It is often possible to store several hours, days, and even weeks' worth of snapshots with slightly more than 2x storage.
  This method, while not as space-efficient as some of the proprietary technologies (which, using special copy-on-write filesystems, can operate on slightly more than 1x storage), makes use of only standard file utilities and the common rsync program, which is installed by default on most Linux distributions. Properly configured, the method can also protect against hard disk failure, root compromises, or even back up a network of heterogeneous desktops automatically.

• UMLd - A UML management daemon from David Coulson
  (via http://user-mode-linux.sourceforge.net/contrib.html)
  A system with lots of UMLs can be a management nightmare, so David Coulson has written a daemon to manage all of his UMLs, allowing UML users to perform functions on their UML via a web interface.
